Kenneth B. Winiecki, Jr. was born in 1965 and raised in New England until relocating near Dallas, Texas in 1978. He attended Plano East Senior High and then the University of Texas at Austin where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on digital systems. He obtained a position as Engineer at Airmar Technology Corporation in Milford, New Hampshire where for three years he developed ultrasonic transducers, test equipment, control systems, and software. He then left to pursue graduate studies at Clemson University in South Carolina where he performed research for Dr. Walter B. Ligon, III and in 1994 received a Master of Science degree in Computer Engineering with a focus on computer architecture. He is currently Senior Principal Engineer for Orbital Sciences Corporation working under contract at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. Originally with the Microelectronic Systems Branch (Code 521, now defunct; see remnants) designing state-of-the-art satellite telemetry ground system components, he is currently designing FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array) applications and researching the acceleration of data processing using commercial reconfigurable computers. |
